frozen hot chocolate made with crushed ice, matcha, caramel and chocolate sauce topped with whipped cream

Frozen and hot? That’s a little paradoxical you will tell me! yet that’s exactly what this recipe is all about, some hot milk combined with chocolate then cooled down and blended with crushed ice. As a result, it gives you some sort of hot chocolate frappe. This kind of drink makes me feel like in a coffee shop, but at home.

I’ve made some whipped cream to top up the frozen hot chocolate, and added some extra toppings for further yumminess : )

This frozen hot chocolate feels so refreshing in summer but is also great to sip during any season. At least I love it any time of the year! I have made three different versions, each of them with different chocolate: dark, milk chocolate and white chocolate. As I currently live in Belgium, quality chocolate is easily found around the corner.

How to make homemade whipped cream?

You could as well skip the whipped cream but trust me this frozen hot chocolate with whipped cream brings it to another level. You could buy the whipped cream already made but in case you’ve got some thick cream in your fridge, all you need to do is whip it with a hand mixer. 3/4 whipped = a smooth silky whipped cream. Fully whipped = a more airy whipped cream just like from the store.
