What is a frozen hot chocolate?

Frozen and hot? Sounds like a paradox, right? But that’s exactly what this recipe is all about! It starts with hot milk combined with chocolate, which is then cooled down and blended with crushed ice. The result is a deliciously smooth hot chocolate frappé.

This drink always gives me coffee shop vibes, except I get to enjoy it right at home.

To make it extra special, I whipped up some homemade whipped cream to top it off and added a few extra toppings for an extra dose of yumminess 😋

This frozen hot chocolate is so refreshing in the summer, but honestly, it’s perfect to sip on any time of the year. Personally, I enjoy it year-round! I’ve made three different versions, each featuring a different type of chocolate: dark, milk, and white.

Living in Belgium, I’m lucky to have easy access to high-quality chocolate just around the corner – it really makes all the difference!

Want to make homemade whipped cream?

Sure, you could skip the whipped cream, but trust me, adding it takes this frozen hot chocolate to a whole new level. While store-bought whipped cream works fine, if you’ve got some thick cream in your fridge, you can easily make it yourself!

All you need is a hand mixer to whip the cream. Whip it to about 3/4 for a smooth, silky texture, or whip it fully for a light, airy consistency, just like the kind you’d get from the store.
